I was formally offered and have accepted an associate professor position in the School of Nursing at the local college. I will start on January 17, 2007. I will be teaching second semester clinical nursing. The hours are very family friendly and I will be home in the afternoon by 3PM! It is a part time position, but I will have the opportunity to see if this is what I want to do without making a huge permanent commitment yet. If I want to consider a full time position in the future it is easy to move into that since I will already be there. I am hoping to continue with my current employer doing colposcopy clinics and also picking up about 3-4 days a week in the summer since I will not be teaching during the break. I am very excited about this opportunity! Of course I do have to pass a criminal background check and a drug screen. Those will not pose a problem. I am hoping that this will open up enough time for me to return to school to get my doctorate! That has been my goal for quite some time, unfortunately it has been sidelined for a while since having the boys.
Our other big news is that we have adopted a dog!
(Blogger won't let me post a picture...)
She is a 4 y/o Beagle, tricolor and absolutely in love with the boys. She is tolerant of all their antics and enjoys just being with them. We have had her for 5 days and she is right at home now. She loves to chase the rabbits that wander into our yard and has managed to terrorize a few armadillos that roam the neighborhood while out on late night walks. I have been a bit hesitant to get a larger pet for a while, after discussing it with a few experts, we decided now was the time. Then as soon as we made the decision, a friend of mine told me that a beagle was posted at her Vets office as free to a good home. I spoke with the previous owner at length, she is up to date on all of her shots and parasite treatment, she is spayed and has an ID chip and is used to being around an active family. They cannot keep her and wanted to find a good home. That is us! We had a visit with our new Vet and he has verified that she is in excellent health and free from any diseases or problems.
I am very interested in training her to be a Therapy Dog, the vet said that she is cleared from a health standpoint. Now I will get her enrolled in a Canine Good Citizen training program and then take it from there. Once S. turns 10 y/o he can also be involved with this. I want my children to understand the value of volunteering their time and talents for others.
Today is election day here is in the USA, I need to get out and vote!
