Celebrating!

I have been taking Taekwondo for 2 years. I started because my 2 older sons were taking it and parents had a chance to train free for a month. I thought I would give it a try. Tonight I was recommended for black belt. I never imagined that I would be preparing to test for my 1st degree black belt in November. This has been an incredible experience for me.

Tonight I was required to do my form, spar and demonstrate competence in self defense techniques. I was also required to break two boards using an arm technique, a back elbow strike, and a kick technique, a #2 jump round kick (a very difficult technique for me). I felt confident about everything but the board breaks, I plowed right through them. I think it was all the adrenaline that gave me the power to do that.

My boys are very proud of me. That makes it even more special.

How exciting for you and your family! I think this is something I would really enjoy. I took a Judo class in college and loved it. I think TKD would be very cool.

Congratulations!

Hi there! Thanks for your comment in my Live Journal about my 1 year post-K entry. I was feeling pretty terrible that day (you can see by my language...).

Congrats, btw!
